Regional Compact - Tangará da Serra

The PCI Oeste Pact began in the municipality of Tangará da Serra Tangará in 2022 and since 2023 has expanded its operations in surrounding municipalities through the “Consório Oeste” formed by the PCI Institute, Proforest, Produzindo Certo and the Amazon Environmental Research Institute (IPAM). In 2024, the Oeste Pact signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with the city governments of Tangará da Serra, Diamantino and Alto Paraguai and in 2025 with the municipalities of Sapezal and Campos de Júlio. The region is a major producer of commodities (soybean, corn and cotton), in addition to livestock production and, to a lesser extent, family farming products.


GOALS

- Restoration of 12,200 hectares of degraded pastures.
- Expand the grain area on degraded pasture by 20,000 hectares by 2030.

- Eliminate illegal deforestation by 2030;
- Reduce the burned areas (heat spots) to 100,000 hectares by 2030.
- Conserve 10,000 hectares of land eligible for legal deforestation.
- Register 90% of rural properties (CAR) by 2024;
- Validate 90% of the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) by 2024;
- Preserve 60% of the native vegetation in the municipality.
- Creation of 8 Private Natural Heritage Reserves (RPPNs).
- Restoration of 57,237 hectares of micro-watershed areas by 2030.

- Development of the Municipal Plan for Family Farming.
- Municipal adherence to the SEIAF system by 2030.
- Increase the participation of products from family agriculture in the National School Feeding Program (PNAE) and the Food Acquisition Program (PAB) to 70% by 2030.
- Establish and implement a municipal Credit Access Fund for Family Agriculture (Fundo de Aval municipal de acesso ao crédito AF).
- Achieve land regularization for 70% of family farming plots by 2030.

In 2024, through the City Halls of Tangará da Serra, Diamantino and Alto Paraguai, the Tangará da Serra Memorandum of Understanding, Diamantino Memorandum of Understanding, Alto Paraguai Memorandum of Understanding, Campos de Júlio Memorandum of Understanding and Sapezal Memorandum of Understandingwere signed, with the aim of establishing cooperation and making the necessary efforts to promote sustainable economic development through the PCI strategy in the region.
